Responsible AI Policy

How we develop, deploy, and govern AI at 10ˣ. Our principles for keeping humans in authority, decisions transparent, and automation accountable.

“AI suggests; humans verify.” This is not a tagline — it is the operational principle that governs every AI system we build. We treat autonomous AI execution as a privilege earned through demonstrated confidence and bounded by explicit protocols, not as a default.

1. Human Authority is Non-Negotiable

AI in the 10ˣ system augments human decision-making — it does not replace it for consequential decisions. Humans retain authority over any action with significant impact. AI suggests, recommends, and automates within defined boundaries. Humans verify, authorize, and maintain ultimate control.

2. Transparency Over Black Boxes

We build glass boxes, not black boxes. Every AI recommendation in the 10ˣ system is traceable to the data and logic that produced it. Users can always see why the system suggested what it suggested. No opaque decisions that humans cannot understand or challenge.

3. Explicit Protocols, Not Implicit Behavior

Every interaction between humans and AI in our system follows an explicit, documented protocol. The boundaries of AI autonomy are defined in advance — not discovered after the fact. Suggest → Verify → Execute. Autonomous with Audit. Human Escalation. Each protocol is documented and auditable.

4. Immutable Audit Trails

Every action taken by an AI agent in the 10ˣ system is recorded in an immutable audit trail. What the AI did, what data it used, what confidence it had, who authorized it — all recorded and queryable. Accountability cannot be retroactively erased.

5. Defined Escalation Paths

AI systems must know their limits. When 10ˣ AI encounters ambiguity, risk, or conditions outside its operating parameters, work is immediately escalated to a human agent with full context preserved. The system is designed to fail toward human judgment, not away from it.

6. No Autonomous Execution of High-Stakes Actions

Actions with significant external impact — customer communications, financial transactions, security changes, personnel decisions — require human authorization regardless of AI confidence level. The cost of a false positive for human review is always lower than the cost of an unchecked error.

7. Alignment Between Copy and Metadata

What our AI systems say they do, they do. We maintain strict alignment between human-readable descriptions of AI behavior and the machine-readable metadata that governs it. There are no undocumented capabilities or hidden behaviors.

8. Continuous Bias Monitoring

We actively monitor AI outputs for patterns that may indicate bias, drift, or degraded performance. Models are evaluated against fairness metrics before deployment and monitored continuously in production. Anomalies trigger human review.

Interaction Protocol Alignment

Every AI interaction in the 10ˣ system maps to one of three protocols. The protocol governs the boundary between AI and human authority.

Suggest → Verify → ExecuteHigh-stakes, novel, or external-impact actions
Autonomous with Audit TrailRoutine, high-confidence, reversible actions
Human EscalationAmbiguity, risk flags, out-of-bounds conditions
